A John Adams Perspective

In a letter from our second President, John Adams, to his wife Abagail, Mr. Adams writes, with a conviction rarely seen these days, the reason for his study of government. In that time he saw that the liberty pendulum had gone to the far left towards tyranny and that the answer would be through self education and action. I believe our current situation has come to a crossroads where we need to get back to the same mixture of self education and action in our local precincts.

"I must study politics and war that my sons may have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy. My sons ought to study mathematics and philosophy... in order to give their children a right to study painting, poetry & music..." John Adams

In a conversation I had with a close friend, I shared this quote as the reason for my wanting to get more involved in the political arena. He said "I could never be a politician." I believe many good people are standing idly by because of a media based point of reference that leaves us with the belief that there's nothing we can do and that even if we could [do something] we would rather leave it to the "politicians." This is very dangerous, for as John Adams says, "There is danger from all men. The only maxim of a free government ought to be to trust no man living with power to endanger the public liberty" John Adams, Journal, 1772.

You can start in your own communities. Get in contact with your local party (Rep. or Dem.) headquarters in the area, and ask for information on how to become a precinct committeeman. This will allow you to see and hear what is happening in your community and therefore be able to help create positive change at the local level. The type of change that preserves our constitution rather than trying to arbitrarily change it based on current standards/world view.

If enough people, who were thoughtfully self-educating, were involved when things like the F.O.C.A. bill (freedom of choice act) are on the table, the media or "politicians" would be powerless in feeding us their spun propaganda, because we would be armed with the truth, and the truth shall set us free.

"But a Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty, once lost, is lost forever." John Adams

Get involved and...

Keep Moving Forward.

AWESOME POST. Amen, I just love this post. Im excited for us as a couple to be more involved in politics. Hey, everyone out there. We are looking for others that want to join us in this cause of re-claiming out Government. Anyone game. To tell you the truth I have been amazed at how simple it is to get started and make a difference. "Make your voice heard"
